HRU testing at the Pilot Plant

By end of June 2021, two engineers from RISE travelled to the DRALOD Pilot Plant in Chiloeches (Spain) for testing and evaluation the heat recovery unit (HRU) prototype in-situ. The dryer exhaust air is the heat source used by the HRU. To be more specific, the main source of the extracted energy is from condensation of humidity in air to water, by cooling the exhaust air below its dew point. The testing at Chiloeches has been used to validate its design and performance, and generate new knowledge towards the sizing of a full scale HRU in the megawatt range.
